Properties Magna 393 Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel Electrode

Magna 393 Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel Electrode is the ideal alloy for maintenance of stainless steel equipment.

  • welds virtually all types of stainless steel, thick or thin.
  • vertical down welding of stainless steel material is problem-free.
  • offers remarkable resistance to reducing agents such as urea.
  • features “Controlled Slag Blanket” technology which makes the slag easy to remove.
  • minimizes “burn-through” when welding thin sheet thicknesses.

Application Magna 393 Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel Electrode

Magna 393 Corrosion Resistant Stainless Steel Electrode can be used for the repair of virtually any type or grade of stainless steel. Due to this superior versatility, Magna 393 is the repair alloy that should be kept and stocked in factories that use stainless steel equipment, such as food and beverage plants and chemical processing plants.

Magna 393 is also a must-have in hotels and other dining establishments because this advanced alloy repairs all types of stainless steel, from kitchen utensils to countertops, sinks, cooking equipment, and freezer doors and cabinets.

Magna 393 can be applied using both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) with reversed polarity. Steel surfaces to be welded must be thoroughly cleaned of dirt, grease, oil, etc. No other special preparation is required, nor is preheating necessary.

After setting the welding machine within the range indicated below, tack weld the workpiece approximately every 25 mm (about 1″). It is not necessary to weave the weld, but try to maintain a short arc. Reinforce every weld.

You will notice that the slag is easy to remove and should therefore be removed at the end of each pass. In vertical down applications, the arc transfer remains uniform and you won’t be bothered by slag running ahead of the weld.

Magna 393 can also be welded perfectly on site, even with low-amperage AC welding machines, such as when repairs need to be performed outside the workshop.
