Magna 395 can be applied using both alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC) with reversed polarity. Surfaces must be cleaned and thoroughly degreased.

Weldability with Magna 395 is good, and it is recommended to use procedures that ensure an acceptable phase balance in both the weld metal and the Heat Affected Zone (HAZ). In general, a higher heat input is recommended.

Preheating, although generally not considered necessary, can help achieve the desired HAZ microstructure.
